Here at McCord, we strive to foster growth for each student in the academic, social and emotional ways.
We are proud to have 4 Houses that connect students and staff in positive ways within our McCord Family. Each house is connected to a cornerstone of Respect, Integrity, Discovery & Knowledge that we embed in our curriculum, our language, and our climate here at McCord. Through our student and staff house leaders, we create ways to connect in and out of the classroom to promote a positive junior high experience for students.
Our proudest accomplishment is the implementation of the Amazing Shake, a program that teaches students the interpersonal skills to interact with others in new and challenging situations, preparing them for the real world. Although this is a 7th grade competition, we spend a great deal of time preparing with the 6th graders and reviewing with the 8th graders, making this a building-wide program. Over the last two years, we have had 250 students go through the Amazing Shake and more than 100 community volunteers participate in one or both of the events. We are proud of the positive impact this program has had on the school and community, and we look forward to continuing to grow this program.
